470

Designed by France’s André Cornu in 1963, the 470 has become one of the most popular modern fiberglass dinghys. The 470, so named for its length (470 centimeters), achieved International/Recognized status in 1969, has been an Olympic class boat since 1976, and was the boat of choice for the first women’s Olympic division in 1988. An intermediate vessel suitable for a crew of two, the 470’s international popularity remains popular with over 40,000 boats built to date and 65 member nations.
